I’m Brandi Rhoades, and I’d like to welcome you to my website. Here you will find links to works that have appeared online as well as a partial listing of my writing and research credentials. In addition, you can buy my short publications, including 101 Careers in Gender Studies and 102 Ways to Make Money from Home.

Though I fell in love with the idea of being a writer when I was eight years old and read Judy Blume’s Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret, it was not until nine years later that I had my first piece published. I submitted an essay to our school’s literary magazine outlining my theory for changing the world. In college, my work appeared in undergraduate research journals and a local gay and lesbian newspaper before I worked as the editor of an alternative university paper and then finally our school-funded paper. I graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia with a triple major in history, sociology, and women's studies.

After college, I worked as a general assignment newspaper reporter for The Community Press in Greater Cincinnati. I left my work there in June 2004 to pursue life as a freelance writer. Since that time, I have written articles for more than 100 websites on topics ranging from diamond mine locations to baby stroller reviews as well as plenty of personal essays about my life. I currently live in Frankfort, Kentucky with my husband, Brian, our son, Jayden, and our daughter, Katherine.

Whether you’re here checking out a specific publication, looking for a writer for hire, or just checking out the site, I hope you enjoy it and come back again soon!
